The Border Rugby Union has received sufficient funding to pay its players.
The South African Rugby Players Association (Sarpa) put in an application for sequestration of the union earlier this week, but withdrew it after holding meetings with Border senior officials and players on Wednesday.
At this meeting, the players were told that the union received sufficient funding to honour its commitments towards the players and that all outstanding amounts owed to the players will be paid in full, while a recovery plan would be put in place to stabilise the affairs of the union.
Sarpa managing director Eugene Henning said Border players asked them to withdraw the application.
‘The players instructed us yesterday, given these new developments at Border Rugby Union, to withdraw their application. We subsequently approached the court today with the request and the order was discharged.’
