Blue Bulls flank Boom Prinsloo has announced his retirement from all rugby with immediate effect.
The 29-year old, who joined the Bulls from the Cheetahs in 2017, reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
The former Blitzbok won 51 Super Rugby caps for the Cheetahs before his move to Loftus, where his game-time was mostly limited to the Currie Cup and Provincial Rugby Challenge.
Prinsloo said he felt the time was right to leave the game behind.
‘It’s never easy making a decision like this. I have dedicated my life to this beautiful game, and there’s no doubt that I feel a little mix of emotions.
‘Having said that, I also realise that it’s a good time for me to move on, and embrace the next chapter of my life. Thank you to everybody that has contributed to my career and given me the opportunity and privilege to play this beautiful game.’
