Victor Matfield top-scored with 62 as the Springboks beat the Proteas by five wickets in their T20 cricket match at the Wanderers.
Needing 182 for victory, the Boks got off to a flyer with Matfield and Tiaan Liebenberg racing past the 50-run mark in the first six overs. Liebenberg and Handré Pollard were dismissed in quick succession but Matfield held the Springbok innings together.
When Matfield was removed by Kagiso Radaba, captain Willem Alberts took it upon himself to finish things off. He bludgeoned his way to 24 runs off seven deliveries and was ably supported by Jan Serfontein (20), as the Springboks powered home with seven balls to spare.
Earlier in the day, Willie le Roux was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3-4, while Damian de Allende also claimed three scalps, including the prized wicket of Quinton de Kock.
