SA Rugby says media speculation about the Springboks’ participation in the Rugby Championship had been noted, but that no official announcement will be made until Friday.

Earlier in the week, Sanzaar gave SA Rugby a 48-hour deadline to confirm whether they would be sending a team to Australia for the tournament, but according to reports in Australasia, the Springboks will officially withdraw from the Rugby Championship this week.

On Thursday, a SA Rugby spokesperson said that the speculation in the media that the Springboks were to be withdrawn from the Rugby Championship had been ‘noted’.

However, the national governing body added that it would not comment on the reports until Sanzaar had updated all stakeholders through official channels, which was expect to be on Friday, 16 October.
