Cobus Reinach, Jan Serfontein and Rohan Janse van Rensburg all scored to help the Northampton Saints, Montpellier and Sale Sharks to respective victories in round two of the European Champions Cup.

In an action-packed second round of fixtures, Northampton, Montpellier, Saracens, Toulouse, Leinster, Exeter Chiefs, Harlequins and the Sale Sharks claimed wins. Munster drew with Racing, while Ulster beat Clermont on Friday.

In a riveting clash, the Northampton Saints edged Treviso 35-32. Hosts Treviso led 25-15 at half-time, but Saints fought back in the second stanza to claim a bonus-point win.

Springbok scrumhalf Reinach scored for the visitors on the stroke of half-time to ensure his side went into the second period with all the momentum.

Elsewhere, a Bok-laden Montpellier side just held on to beat Johan Ackermann’s similarly Bok-laden Gloucester 30-27. Montpellier had raced out to a 17-3 lead, with centre Serfontein grabbing their first try.

But Gloucester came back into the contest to close the deficit to three in the last few minutes of the game after the French team’s lock Jacques du Plessis received a straight red card for deliberately striking an opponent with his elbow around the neck area.

Meanwhile, the Sale Sharks – who are also have a fair share of capped Springboks in their side – defeated La Rochelle 25-15. Playing outside centre, Janse van Rensburg enjoyed an excellent game for the Sharks, and barged over for their opening try in the sixth minute.

In other results, the under-fire Saracens were in irresistible form on their to a crushing 44-3 triumph over the Ospreys, Toulouse saw off Connacht 32-17, Leinster claimed a nervy 13-6 win over the Lyon, the Exeter Chiefs hammered the Glasgow Warriors 34-18, Harlequins stunned Bath 15-9 in the all-English affair and Munster and Racing 92 had to settle for a share of the spoils as they played out to a dramatic 21-21 draw at Thomond Park.
