Bok prop linked to Quins

English club Harlequins are reportedly on the hunt to sign Stormers and Springbok prop Wilco Louw.

Following confirmation that England international Kyle Sinckler will join the Bristol Bears next season, Quins are now reportedly targeting Louw as a potential replacement.

According to Rapport, Louw could be the latest Bok to move to the Premiership, with the London club having already acquired the services of Sharks centre Andre Esterhuizen ahead of next season.

Louw and his agent reportedly had a meeting with Quins coach Paul Gustard in Cape Town, with the interaction ending in broad smiles and tight handshakes, according to the publication’s source.

The 25-year-old is is contracted to Western Province Rugby until the end of the year, and will therefore see out the current Vodacom Super Rugby campaign with the Stormers.

Louw made his Super Rugby debut for the Cape franchise in 2015 and had a short stint at French club Toulon at the end of last year, after missing out on Springbok selection for the World Cup.

A move abroad could be beneficial for Louw’s development and Bok ambitions, with the 126kg tighthead reportedly wanting more game time after competing with fellow Springbok Frans Malherbe for the starting berth at the Stormers.
