World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi will be given the honour of opening the festive season in Cape Town by turning on the famous Moet & Chandon Golden Tree at the V&A Waterfront.
According to Times Live, Kolisi and several members of the victorious Bok team will be attendance to launch the festive season at the event in honour of the team’s historic World Cup win earlier this month.
The ceremony in the Mother City is set to take place on Friday, 29 November, at the Waterfront’s Silo District between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.
The famous tree is constructed from more than 2000 recycled champagne bottles and golden discs, which wrap around the tree to form a ribbon. 230m of beaming LED lights and several local musical acts are set to dazzle visitors to the spectacle.
Kolisi and his world champion Bok side will play their first Tests since the victorious campaign in Japan against Scotland and Georgia, in July next year. The venues and kick-off times for the three matches will be announced at a later stage, according to a statement from SA Rugby.
