The Vodacom Blue Bulls beat the Lions XV 33-22 in Pretoria on Friday.

With the eye on Sunday’s SuperHero preseason clash between them, both teams fielded a composite XV for this contest which took place on the Loftus B field.

The sides were deadlocked at 12-12 after the an evenly played first half during which they showed plenty of endeavour.

Hooker Marko Janse van Rensburg and inside centre James Mollentze touched down for the visitors, while backs Richard Kriel and Sebastiaan Jobb crossed the tryline for the Bulls.

The Bulls came out firing in the second half and their attacking intent was rewarded with a brace by Jade Stighling and a try replacement Dawid Kellerman.

The Lions finally snapped out of their second half slumber in the last 10 minutes and bagged two late tries. But the game was effectively over as a contest by then.
