Blitzboks off to winning start

South Africa defeated Samoa 33-7 in their first game on day one of the Dubai Sevens.

In a scrappy contest, the Blitzboks outscored Samoa five tries to one, with Seabelo Senatla bagging a brace.

The speedster showed his blistering pace to open the scoring, before Samoa hit back with a converted try.

But further scores by Werner Kok and Philip Snyman gave the Blitzboks a 19-7 advantage at the break.

Solid defence in the second half kept Samoa at bay, before Senatla and Justin Geduld finished it off with the Blitzboks' fourth and fifth tries.

South Africa will complete their pool fixtures against Russia (10:44) and Scotland (17:12) on Friday.
