Dewald Human and Mfundo Ndhlovu will join the Blitzboks in Paris as injury replacements for Cecil Afrika and Branco du Preez.
Afrika (hamstring) and Du Preez (shoulder) will return to South Africa for medical treatment after suffering series-ending knocks on day one of the London Sevens on Saturday.
Human and Ndhlovu, who were both part of the Blitzboks squad at the Hong Kong Sevens earlier this season, will fly to France for the Paris Sevens on Monday. Human will join the squad as the 12th playing member, Ndhlovu will be the official reserve.
Meanwhile, the Blitzboks’ all-time leading try-scorer Seabelo Senatla, who is enjoying his return to the squad after a four-month stint at the Stormers, says he would have liked to have started against Fiji in the final.
‘My return to the squad was good. The coach managed me well. It was the right thing to start with Shakes [Siviwe Soyizwapi], as he is playing well this season and I was happy to play off the bench,’ said Senatla. ‘Now the focus will be on Paris and to finish the Sevens Series on a high.
‘Sevens is all about scoring when you have opportunities and Fiji did that better than us. We will work on that and come back a stronger team in Paris. We would like to get another shot at them and turn the tables.’
