The SA Sevens team will face hosts Scotland in the medal quarter-finals at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday.
The South Africans made easy work of their pool, scoring 106 unanswered points on their way to three consecutive victories. They opened their campaign with a comfortable 36-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago before Cornal Hendricks and Sabelo Senatla each grabbed hat-tricks in a 50-0 rout of the Cook Islands.
A win against Kenya in their final pool match would be enough to avoid facing New Zealand in the quarter-finals. They duly delivered, running in four tries to set up a revenge match with Scotland. Earlier this year, it was the Scots who ended the Blitzboks' World Series title hopes with an inspired 12-7 victory in front of their home fans at the quarter-finals of the Glasgow Sevens.
With Sean Lamont and Stuart Hogg bulking up the Scottish Commonwealth team, the Boks will need to be at their best if they are to avoid another upset.
