Bismarck du Plessis has been named Sharks squad captain for the upcoming Vodacom Super Rugby season as part of a four-man leadership group.
With a strong focus on player management and rotation, the Sharks have taken the decision to select a core leadership group, which consists of four players who will lead the squad during their Super Rugby campaign.
Du Plessis, who led the Sharks in 2014, has been named squad captain, while Pat Lambie, Frans Steyn and Tera Mtembu will also form part of the group.
Each player is expected to bring their own unique leadership skills into the equation, a move which director of rugby Gary Gold hopes will bring the best out of his new side.
'The way the modern game is going it's not about individuals but a group of leaders who share ideas and work together as a team in order to achieve the desired results,' said Gold on his decision. 'These four players have proven their leadership ability and commitment to the Sharks over the years and they will be able to rally the group and get the best out of their teammates.'
