The British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa will start with clashes against the Lions and Sharks at Ellis Park, while the final two Tests are set to be hosted at FNB Stadium.
The original tour schedule was set to have the B&I Lions face the Stormers at the Cape Town Stadium, before moving around the country to face an SA Invitational (in Gqeberha), Sharks (in Durban), SA A (Nelspruit), the Bulls (Pretoria). That was then to be followed by Tests at FNB Stadium, Cape Town Stadium and Ellis Park.
However, the venues for the Lions’ five warm-up games against the Stormers, Bulls, Sharks, Lions and SA A will be rejigged as all fixtures will be limited to Cape Town and Gauteng amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
On 3 July, South Africa’s Lions will host the B&I Lions in Johannesburg, while this will be followed by a clash with the Sharks on 7 July – also at Ellis Park.
The touring team will then move to Pretoria to face the Bulls on 10 July, before travelling down to Cape Town where they will play South Africa A (14 July), Stormers (17 July) and then head into the first Test (24 July).
The B&I Lions will then return to Johannesburg for the final two Tests on 31 July and 7 August, with both of these clashes expected to take place at FNB Stadium.
