Reports in England suggest that the British & Irish Lions and the Springboks will both be the subject of a documentary of next year’s tour.
According to the Telegraph, the documentary – which will allow viewers to go behind the scenes inside both camps – is part of the commercial partnership deal between SA Rugby and the Lions.
The report states that the Lions hope the documentary could become the rugby equivalent of Netflix’s hit The Last Dance, which covered the inside story of basketball legend Michael Jordan’s career.
The 1997 Lions tour of South Africa – where the visitors claimed a famous 2-1 series win over the Springboks – was also the subject of a documentary, but its success has not been replicated by video diaries of any of the following tours.

The new commercial deal will reportedly see the Lions rely less on sponsorship and receive a share of the revenue from broadcasting, ticketing and hospitality.
