Beauden Barrett has committed to the Hurricanes and New Zealand rugby for a further two years.
The talented 23-year-old flyhalf has been strongly linked with the Blues in recent weeks, but the Hurricanes managed to fend off interest from Auckland to secure his signature.
Barrett has played 52 matches for the Canes since joining on a development contract in 2011, scoring 594 points. He currently sits atop the scoring charts for this season's Super Rugby tournament having amassed 209 points in his 16 matches to date.
The Hurricanes will have a new coaching set-up from next season, with John Plumtree and Chris Boyd taking over from the outgoing Mark Hammett.
