Beauden Barrett has reportedly agreed to join Japanese Top League team Suntory Sungoliath in a deal that would have him earn £780,000 per season.
According to England’s Daily Mail, the All Blacks and Blues back has signed a two-year deal with Suntory in a deal worth over R16 million per season.
The report states that Barrett will link up with the Japanese side after the next Test window, scheduled for October and November.
However, the deal will mean that the 29-year-old will be unavailable for Test duty for the next two years. The report claims that New Zealand Rugby has agreed in order to ease the financial strain placed upon them by the Covid-19 pandemic.
