Banda back for Kings

Kings fullback Masixole Banda Masixole Banda of the Kings
Published on April 5, 2019 | Leave a response

Masixole Banda will start at fullback for the Kings against the Dragons in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

Banda replaces Ulrich Beyers in one of four changes to the team that went down to Ulster last weekend. Harlon Klaasen also regains his starting berth and forms the midfield partnership with Tertius Kruger.

Veteran Schalk Ferreira is back at loosehead prop, swapping spots with youngster Alulutho Tshakweni. Andisa Ntsila will start at No 6 in place of Henry Brown, who misses the game with a concussion.

Andries van Schalkwyk will make his 100th Pro14 appearance on Sunday.

The 34-year-old lock, who won the bulk of his caps for Zebre, becomes just the 10th South African to make 100 appearances in the Pro14, joining the likes of scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar, and former players BJ Botha and Robbie Diack.

Berton Klaasen is set to earn his 50th cap for the Kings off the bench.

Kings – 15 Masixole Banda, 14 Yaw Penxe, 13 Harlon Klaasen, 12 Tertius Kruger, 11 Bjorn Basson, 10 Bader Pretorius, 9 Stefan Ungerer, 8 Ruaan Lerm, 7 Tienie Burger, 6 Andisa Ntsila, 5 JC Astle (c), 4 Andries van Schalkwyk, 3 De-Jay Terblanche, 2 Michael Willemse, 1 Schalk Ferreira.
Subs: 16 Alandré van Rooyen, 17 Alulutho Tshakweni, 18 Pieter Scholtz, 19 Stephan Greeff, 20 Steph de Wit, 21 Rudi van Rooyen, 22 Berton Klaasen, 23 Ulrich Beyers.
