Legendary former Springbok Bakkies Botha has added his voice to those questioning Owen Farrell’s five-match ban for a horrendous tackle this past weekend.
Farrell was shown a red card for the horrible-looking hit on Wasps’ Charlie Atkinson, who is currently recovering from the head knock.

Although the disciplinary panel concluded the tackle was a top-end offence with a suspension entry point of 10 matches, it was ultimately reduced to five due to mitigating circumstances.
This included testimonials provided by Saracens boss Mark McCall, England caoch Eddie Jones and the founders of a charity with which Farrell works very closely.
Botha, who played 85 Tests and was no stranger to being called to account for disciplinary indiscretions, took to social media to respond to a SARugbymag.co.za article and highlight the inconsistency of such suspensions.
If he had a 4 on his back and his surname is Botha ban for just after the Lions Tour next year.If it was about timing then my timing was out on Jimmy Cowan as well. ????
