Where you should put your money on the Currie Cup final this weekend, according to MARK KEOHANE.
Last weekend's semi-finals went according to plan and we made some money in the process. The two best sides in the tournament progressed to the final at Newlands. It should be a good one.
The Lions are the form team, and have been rewarded for their exciting brand of rugby. WP have earned the right to a home final by being statistically the best team in the tournament, but that won't guarantee them the title.
They've shown in the past that playing at home has been more of a burden than a bonus for them, with their implosion in last year's final still fresh in the memory.
However, the notion that the Lions are favourites is ridiculous. The bookies are among the sensible few, and have installed WP as solid, if not conclusive, favourites.
If this match was being played at Ellis Park, then the Lions would be favourites, and rightfully so. Home-ground advantage is a massive advantage, especially in a final.
The Lions have played without fear this season, but a final is a different beast. WP are a team that capitalises on mistakes and the Lions, with their carefree approach, will make their fair share of those.
Finals are won by the team that is clinical on attack and steadfast on defence. WP are both of those things. I've got them to win comfortably, by 10 or more points. For the punters among you, that scoreline can be found at 2/1 on the handicap (R300 return for every R100 wagered).
