Gio Aplon and Cobus Reinach are set to be included in the Springbok squad for the European tour in November.
According to Rapport, Aplon, who has 17 Test caps, could be set for his first inclusion in a Springbok squad since 2012.
The 36-year-old currently plays for Jake White’s Verblitz side in Japan.
Northampton scrumhalf Reinach could also be set for a recall, after impressing with the Premiership side this season.
With incumbent Faf de Klerk’s availability for the Tests against England, France, Scotland and Wales still unclear, the door has been opened for Reinach, who won the last of his 10 caps against Argentina in 2015.
A wider training squad, which will exclude players based overseas and those involved in the Currie Cup final, will assemble on Sunday afternoon, with the final squad to be named shortly after the Currie Cup final.
