The former Springbok lock selects a team of the best he played with and against.
15. Gio Aplon
One of the best players with ball in hand I have ever played with. He can create something out of nothing.
14. Joe Rokocoko
What an athlete! Always a difficult man to defend against.
13. Jaque Fourie
On the field, one of the best outside centres to play with. Off the field, he is an absolute legend and a clown.
12. Jean de Villiers (c)
He formed a great combination with Jaque. One of the smartest rugby brains and the best captain I played under.
11. Sireli Naqelevuki
Not a Newlands favourite after the 2010 Currie Cup semi-final, but what a pleasure to play with this massive human being.
10. Dan Carter
The best rugby player ever. It was a massive honour to work with him this past season in Japan.
9. Andy Ellis
What a man, on and off the field. He formed a great combination with Dan. Always good to have a beer with.
8. Duane Vermeulen
I will always pick him to fight alongside me. I don’t think this guy knows how to back down.
7. Rynhardt Elstadt
There is no word to describe him other than ‘tough’.
6. Daiki Hashimoto
He could have played lots of Super Rugby games if he was not loyal to our company in Japan. What a legend and a great man.
5. Brodie Retallick
One of the best modern-day players. Tough and skillful and will end his career as one of the most capped All Blacks.
4. Eben Etzebeth
Such a good feeling to have seen this guy start off at the Stormers. Was lucky to have played with him for a few games.
3. Ben Franks
Strong in the scrum and defensively. Absolutely rocked me in a tackle in 2011.
2. Tiaan Liebenberg
We had a good combination and understanding. I will always pick him to throw me the ball at lineout time. What a boytjie.
1. Tendai Mtawarira
The main guy. Tough and strong, but such a good man off the field.
