Utility back George Moala has been ruled out of New Zealand's Bledisloe Cup Test against Australia in Sydney on Saturday.
All Blacks backline coach Ian Foster confirmed the 25-year-old Moala suffered a knee injury in training on Monday.
'George Moala did a medial [knee ligament] yesterday at training, so he’s going to be out for a few weeks,' said Foster. 'He was just one of the four centres that we were considering so no replacement will be called in, not this week.'
Foster added that Moala's latest injury setback is disappointing for the player who used his Test opportunity well.
'He came in as a replacement in June and really took his opportunity well in that Test. He was in fantastic shape and the signs were looking good. Now he’s had a bit of a temporary setback. That happens in this business, so he’ll go away and get that right and hopefully charge back sooner rather than later.'
