The All Blacks were named Laureus World Team of the Year in Berlin on Monday night, while Dan Carter won the Comeback of the Year award.
The 2015 World Cup champions were one of six nominees for the award, including Champions League winners Barcelona (football), NBA champions the Golden State Warriors (basketball), the Great Britain Davis Cup team (tennis), Mercedes AMG Petronas (F1) and the United States Women's World Cup winners (football).
This is the first time the All Blacks have won the award, having previously been nominated in 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2013.
The All Blacks have had a more than 90% success rate over the past four years and became the first team to win back-to-back World Cups.
Carter, who was influential in their successful title defence, won the Comeback on the Year award ahead of Jessica Ennis-Hill (UK, athletics), Mick Fanning (Australia, surfing), Michael Phelps (USA, swimming), David Rudisha (Kenya, athletics) and Lindsey Vonn (USA, skiing).
