The inclusion of Willem Alberts is one of five changes to the Lions lineup for Saturday’s clash with the Pumas at Ellis Park.
Lions coach Ian Rooyen has made a host of changes, some tactical and some injury-enforced, for their home game against the Pumas.
In the back division, fullback Tiaan Schoeman and scrumhalf Ross Cronje come in for injured duo Gianni Lombard and Morne van den Berg.
The Lions loose trio remains unchanged, but Van Rooyen made several alterations to the tight five. Alberts and Reinhard Nothnagel come in to form new second-row partnership, while Ruan Dreyer is preferred at loosehead prop this week.
On the bench, front rowers Jan-Henning Campher and Wiehahn Herbst, loose forward Hacjivah Dayimani, scrumhalf Andre Warner and utility back Divan Rossouw are the new additions to the match-day 23.
