The Springboks have failed to improve their position in the world rankings, despite a comfortable victory over Argentina in Buenos Aires.

The rankings are unchanged after the weekend's World Cup warm-up matches, with New Zealand the big winners as their lead at the summit was extended to six rating points.

South Africa's first Test victory of the season sees them gain 0.78 of a point from 84.37 to 85.15, but it's not enough to usurp fourth-placed England, who earned 0.13 of a point following their 19-14 win against France.

The All Blacks' rating points increased from 92.72 to 92.89 after their demolition of Australia at Eden Park and with Ireland unable to better their points tally, New Zealand are now six clear at the top.

The Wallabies' hopes of moving above Ireland in the pecking order before the start of the World Cup, were dented as they dropped 0.17 of a rating point from 86.84 to 86.67. 

Seventh-placed France lost 0.14 of a point, while Argentina's tally were reduced by 0.78 of a rating point.
