Western Province, Griquas and Border will be looking to maintain their unbeaten starts to the season in round four of the Currie Cup qualifiers, writes CRAIG LEWIS.
Griquas currently top the log after claiming a full haul of log points from their first three games, which has seen them record bonus-point wins over the Griffons, Valke and SWD Eagles. Griquas will now face another important test as they get set to take on a dangerous Boland side in Wellington on Friday.
Western Province have only played two games so far this season, but have done well to comfortably account for the Blue Bulls and Free State XV, with the Golden Lions XV now set to travel to Cape Town on Saturday. It should be an intriguing battle, with the Lions having started their campaign with a loss to Border before bouncing back to beat Namibia's Welwitschias and the Blue Bulls.
As it is, Border have proven to be the ‘giant killers’ of the Currie Cup qualifiers so far after recording wins over the Golden Lions XV, Sharks XV and EP Kings. They’ll now be looking to make it four from four when they come up against the Pumas in East London on Saturday.
The final match on Saturday will see a bottom-of-the-table battle as the winless Kings take on the Welwitschias in Windhoek.
