Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers is in Namibia assisting with the development of emerging coaches and sport stars.
De Villiers was offered a position as development coach with the Trustco Centre of Excellence. He accepted the offer as he felt his services and coaching experience were not wanted in South Africa.
One of De Villiers’s main tasks in his new role is to develop local coaches and athletes.
‘I was willing to do it in South Africa, especially with the knowledge I have gained through courses in America and England. I also wanted to share my own experience as Springbok coach, but I was never given the opportunity,’ De Villiers told Die Burger.
The former Bok coach has been struggling to find work in South Africa after his contract as director of rugby at the University of the Western Cape was not renewed last year.
