Sharks may leave Kings Park

The Sharks have confirmed they are in talks with the eThekwini municipality over a possible move to Moses Mabhida Stadium.

No agreement between the union and the City of Durban has been reached yet, but if the deal materialises, the Sharks will play matches at the 2010 Soccer World Cup venue as early as next year.

Sharks CEO John Smit says the union has an excellent relationship with eThekwini municipality and that both parties are enthusiastic about their vision for the future of the city.

'We are excited about the prospects at Moses Mabhida Stadium, but have made it clear that any move would have to be in the best interests of the Sharks and its supporters,' said Smit.

'The city has given its full support to this position, but before the board makes a final decision, we will conduct detailed consultations with important stakeholders like our sponsors, suiteholders and season-ticket holders. This process will continue over the next few weeks,' he added.
