Former Stormers forwards coach Matt Proudfoot could still form part of the Springbok coaching team.
According to Netwerk24.com, head coach Allister Coetzee is keen to engage the services of Proudfoot, who worked alongside him at the Stormers and Western Province before joining him at the Kobe Kobelco Steelers in Japan.
Johann van Graan was retained as the Bok forwards coach when the coaching group was confirmed last week, with Mzwandile Stick appointed as backs coach. However, there is the possibility that Proudfoot could be added to the coaching group in some capacity if he is able to secure a release from the Steelers.
At last Tuesday’s press conference, Coetzee said he would also be calling on the services of SA Rugby’s coaching mobi-unit when required. The mobi-unit is headed up by Rassie Erasmus, who has been strongly linked with a role as director of rugby at Irish club Munster from next season.
