The Blue Bulls, Golden Lions and Sharks will be looking to bounce back from defeats in round two of the Currie Cup qualifying competition, writes CRAIG LEWIS.
The Bulls slipped to a 30-16 loss against Western Province, while the Lions and Sharks suffered shock defeats to the Border Bulldogs and Boland Cavaliers respectively.
It’s an early indication that the expanded Currie Cup tournament, now taking place concurrently with Super Rugby, is set to dish up a number of results that are likely to cause rugby-overloaded fans to raise an eyebrow.
Having seen the Bulldogs overcome the Lions, the Sharks will know that they are set for another real test on Friday, while the Bulls will take on a Cheetahs team that opened their campaign with a win over Welwitschias.
This time around, it will be the Lions who come up against the newcomers from Namibia, and they will be determined to leave Windhoek with a winning result.
