These are extraordinary times.
When our latest magazine issue went to print, the coronavirus had yet to be declared a global pandemic, while rugby competition continued uninterrupted.
So much has changed since then, with sport and rugby understandably in shut down as precautions around Covid-19 are wisely undertaken.
What hasn’t changed is our endeavour to unpack the human stories behind our rugby heroes. Now, more than ever, it is also a fantastic opportunity to get your hands on our magazine during this period when so many of us are in self-isolation at home.

At the start of the 2020 Vodacom Super Rugby season, the Sharks played a central role in maintaining the feel-good factor in South African rugby as they embraced an attractive brand of play to fly the SA flag alongside the Stormers.
In particular, World Cup-winning Bok star Lukhanyo Am has been central to the Sharks’ new approach. Having taken on additional responsibility as captain, the 26-year-old tells us it was time to take another step up in terms of his overall contribution to the team. Former Bok skipper and centre Jean de Villiers also weighs in on what sets Am apart as a consummate professional.
Welshman Jamie Roberts, who is remaining in Cape Town during this time, chats to us about his unexpected move to the Stormers and his love for the Mother City, which first took shape on a high-school rugby tour way back in 2003.
We also hear from former Bok flank Willem Alberts, who has returned to the Lions for his final rugby chapter, and sit down with affable prop Trevor Nyakane to find out more about how a new addition to his family helped him overcome the disappointment of missing most of the World Cup after suffering a serious injury.
In another exclusive interview, another World Cup winner Duane Vermeulen details his desire to still make a telling contribution to the Springboks as the 2021 British & Irish Lions series looms on the horizon.
