JOHN MITCHELL, writing on the Vodacom Rugby portal, says Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold must establish disciplinary protocols.
Gold would have spoken to his players about the importance of discipline after Bismarck du Plessis and Frans Steyn were red-carded during the match against the Chiefs (and subsequently banned for lengthy periods).
Yet Jean Deysel still went and kneed a Crusaders player in the back of the head last Saturday, which meant the Sharks had to play the whole of the second stanza with 14 men.
You can't blame Gold for Deysel's actions, but you do have to ask why the director of rugby is still having to talk about discipline eight rounds into the Vodacom Super Rugby season.
Gold has put himself into a very difficult position.
