Adam Jones says he's ‘at peace’ with himself over his decision to retire from international rugby.
The 33-year-old was last week omitted from Wales' 34-man Six Nations squad, having also been excluded for their November Tests. He earned 95 caps for Wales and five for the British & Irish Lions.
'I don’t have the slightest regret,' Jones told Walesonline.co.uk. 'I’m at peace with myself and it’s a bit of a weight off the shoulders if I’m honest. I wanted to get to 100 Wales caps and to play at the World Cup, but it wasn’t to be.
'I wasn’t 100% shocked not to make the squad, I have never just expected to be picked. But I had done everything asked of me and I feel really fit.'
Jones was adamant that there is no bad blood between him and coach Warren Gatland.
'I haven’t seen him for ages, but when I do I will shake his hand,' he said. 'He was great for me, he gave me a kick up the backside when I needed it. I appreciate everything he has done for me.'
