The Reds have appointed prop James Slipper as their new captain for the 2015 Vodacom Super Rugby season.
Slipper takes over from lock James Horwill, who is set to join English Premiership side Harlequins on a three-year deal after the World Cup.
'I'm incredibly humbled by this decision. I take great pride in playing for Queensland, so to be named captain is a great honour,' Slipper said.
The 25-year-old will be assisted by vice-captains Rob Simmons and Karmichael Hunt, with the latter yet to play a game for the Queenslanders since joining from the AFL's Gold Coast.
Coach Richard Graham commended Horwill for his commitment to the club, but says they are preparing to usher in a new generation of leaders.
'Rob understands the strategic side of the game well. And while Karmichael is new to the team, he has shown throughout his career and during pre-season that his standards and work ethic will drive the group to higher expections.'
