Morné Steyn has been suspended for two weeks pending a French National Rugby League disciplinary hearing.
The Stade Français flyhalf was red-carded in the 31st minute of the Top 14 match against Lyon last Friday after kicking Fijian winger Mosese Ratuvou as the two tussled on the ground.
The LNR said Steyn would appear before their disciplinary commission on 22 January.
'He is suspended awaiting the meeting,' the LNR added.
Steyn told French newspaper Midi Olympique that he didn't deserve to get a red card for the incident.
'The Lyon player tried to put his hand in my eyes,' he said. 'I was beside myself. I hate that kind of behaviour. Those are things you shouldn't do, I was angry and reacted badly. But was it worth a red card? Honestly, it's hard.'
