Orie, Venter to face Kings

Former Lions lock Marvin Orie Marvin Orie
Published on November 8, 2019

South Africans Marvin Orie and Shaun Venter have both been named in the Ospreys lineup to take on the Kings in Swansea on Saturday.

Orie, who joined the Ospreys on a short-term loan from the Lions, made his debut in the Welsh team’s loss to Connacht last weekend. The lock will continue in the starting lineup as the Ospreys look to bounce back and climb the log.

Meanwhile, former Cheetahs scrumhalf Shaun Venter has recovered from injury and starts in a new halfback partnership with flyhalf Luke Price.

The other two South African-born players in the Ospreys’ starting XV are wing Hanno Dirksen and veteran tighthead Tom Botha.

None of the Ospreys’ Welsh internationals, including captain Alun Wyn Jones, who were involved in the World Cup feature, despite having rejoined the squad after their fourth-place finish.

Ospreys – 15 Cai Evans, 14 Hanno Dirksen, 13 Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler, 12 Scott Williams, 11 Lesley Klim, 10 Luke Price, 9 Shaun Venter, 8 Morgan Morris, 7 Olly Cracknell, 6 Dan Lydiate (c), 5 Lloyd Ashley, 4 Marvin Orie, 3 Tom Botha, 2 Scott Otten, 1 Rhodri Jones.
Subs: 16 Sam Parry, 17 Gareth Thomas, 18 Ma’afu Fia, 19 Guido Volpi, 20 Sam Cross, 21 Matthew Aubrey, 22 James Hook, 23 Tom Williams.
