Uncapped Bath wing Ruaridh McConnochie is set to make his international debut in the second World Cup warm-up match between England and Wales in Cardiff this weekend.
The former England Sevens player was a surprise inclusion in Eddie Jones’ 31-man squad for the World Cup and would have made his debut in England’s 33-19 victory over the Welsh last Sunday, but for a hip injury which ruled him out.
The 27-year-old McConnochie will start in the No 14 jersey with Joe Cokanasiga shifting to the left wing, while Anthony Watson is left out of the match-day squad entirely.
Usual captain Owen Farrell will return to action via the bench, with George Ford leading the team for the second week in a row as the starting flyhalf.
Lock Maro Itoje gets a start alongside Joe Launchbury, after not featuring in the squad last week.
In the third change to the lineup Lewis Ludlam moves to openside flank to accommodate the return of Courtney Lawes in the No 6 jersey.
Jones has selected two hookers in Jaime George and Jack Singleton among the replacements.
England will look to continue building momentum ahead of the World Cup after their commanding win over Wales last weekend.
