GOODE GOES ON A BENDER
Alex Goode celebrated Saracens’ European Champions Cup victory over Leinster with an epic three-day party. The 31-year-old was photographed by teammate Sean Maitland still in his full Saracens kit with a frothy Guinness in hand that same night. Goode eventually brought his festivities to an end three days later, posting an image of his kit on the floor with the caption ‘over and out’. It was no surprise that the fullback was part of the senior players who missed Saracens’ final league game against the Worcester Warriors the following weekend.
CRUSADERS DRESS UP FOR READ
The Crusaders saw it fit to honour Kieran Read during their pre-game dinner before his 150th Vodacom Super Rugby cap. Read has had a professional career spanning well over a decade, easily making him the most experienced player in the Christchurch set-up. However, his teammates saw the funny side of things, dressing up as old men complete with canes, beards and spectacles. ‘We decided to dress up as Kieran Read for our pizza pasta dinner,’ Ryan Crotty posted. ‘Congrats Reado’.
BURGER BACK FROM THE DEAD
Rugby followers may have been left stunned when a report emerged of former Namibia captain Jacques Burger’s death in an accident. That would have turned into confusion when the man himself later responded to the report on social media, having seemingly made a miraculous recovery. ‘I died yesterday but I feel a lot better today,’ the former Saracens flank wrote on Instagram, before adding on Twitter, ‘If I do go it would’t be a Honda Civic.’

VIDEO GAME DEVELOPERS EXPERIENCE A GLITCH
Fans of the famous Rugby 08 video game were probably excited to hear that a new title was in development for the 2019 World Cup. However, the images that accompanied the promotional press releases left some baffled as they showed a player distinctly resembling Malcolm Marx in a No 2 jersey having a shot at goal. Given the developers bragged that ‘the studio surrounded themselves with experts to reproduce team tactics’, one wonders whether we will see Marx reproducing Joel Stransky’s famous 1995-winning drop-goal in Japan.
