Lock Andries Ferreira has been named in the Vodacom Blue Bulls squad for the 2019 Currie Cup season.
Ferreira’s career has been in limbo since his release from the Hurricanes on 19 March, just 15 days after he signed for the New Zealand franchise.
The 29-year-old has not been playing since his return to South Africa, but it was confirmed on Tuesday that he will return to Pretoria, where he started his career as a youth player.
Flank Wihan Vosloo is the only other new player in the squad, having recently joined the union from the Sharks.
Meanwhile, coach Pote Human has named centre Burger Odendaal as the team’s captain for the tournament.
Springboks Embrose Papier, Ivan van Zyl, Cornal Hendricks and Marnitz Boshoff have also been included in the group.
