English club Sale Sharks have playfully pointed out just how they are raiding South African shores with a slew of new signings.
On Monday, Sale announced the latest recruitment of Sharks and Bok prop Coenie Oosthuizen, which follows hot on the heels of the signing of Vodacom Bulls forward Lood de Jager.
The Sharks have already signed Durban-based Sharks Akker van der Merwe and Rob du Preez – possibly with his brothers Jean-Luc and Dan – to add to the large contingent of South Africans, with Faf de Klerk already on their books along with Rohan Janse van Rensburg, Jono Ross and South African-born Josh Strauss.
On social media, there are those who have begun to refer to Sale as the ‘Saffa Sharks’ and they rose to the occasion on Monday, posting a picture of De Klerk wearing what they described as their new ‘home jersey’ for 2019-20.
The playful post showed a change from the usual navy blue to a dark green and gold akin to the Springbok jersey, while a closer look even revealed a South African flag on the front of the jersey.

Sale then took it a step further with another post saying ‘sorry not sorry’ showing their emblem in the colours of the South African flag.

However, later on, Sale revealed they were in on the joke by stating that they had Sale players who hailed from all over the world.
