Captain Warren Whiteley has been given the all-clear by the Lions’ medical team and will link up with the team on their three-match tour of Australasia.
When the Lions’ initial 24-man touring squad was announced earlier in the week, Whiteley was listed as one of the players on ‘standby’.
But the Lions confirmed on Friday that he had received medical clearance and given the green light to join the Lions on tour after successfully completing his rehabilitation programme to overcome a pectoral injury.
Whiteley will fly to Australia over the weekend, and while he will miss the match against the Brumbies, he should be available for their games against the Chiefs on 19 April and the Crusaders on 26 April.
