Newcastle lock Calum Green has being accused of biting an opponent in the match against Sale last Saturday.
The 28-year-old will face a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday after being cited for biting Sale hooker Rob Webber during the match at St James’ Park, which Newcastle went on to win 22-17.
Webber did receive a warning for clamping his arms around Green’s head while the two were involved at a breakdown in the first half of the match.
The Sharks player showed bite marks on his arm to referee Craig Maxwell-Keys, who took no further action as there was no evidence available to the TMO.
Green could now miss the rest of the season as the entry point ban for biting is 12 weeks. Newcastle are bottom of the Premiership table and behind the Worcester Warriors by three points with five games of the regular season remaining.
