Garth April has not received a Vodacom Bulls contract after failing a medical due to a shoulder injury he suffered while playing in Japan.
The former Sharks playmaker returned to South Africa after a short stint with the NTT Shining Arcs, with the Bulls hopeful of bringing him on as cover for the injured Marnitz Boshoff.
However, according to a report on SuperSport, a medical test found that April had injured his shoulder badly enough four weeks ago to rule him out for up to six months, meaning he could not participate in either Vodacom Super Rugby or the Rugby Challenge.
After seniors Handré Pollard and Manie Libbok, the Bulls are left to choose from their junior ranks, but none of their younger flyhalves have a wealth of experience at senior level.
