Tries by captain Jerry Tuwai, Waisea Nacuqu and Aminiasi Tuimaba gave the Fijians a commanding 17-point lead at the interval. Tuimaba’s effort brought his tally to eight tries at the tournament.
It was more of the same in the second half as Fiji’s supreme offloading and support play left the USA chasing shadows. Alasio Naduvo scored a brace and Tuwai also dotted down for a second time to complete the rout.
