Sunwolves loose forward Sean McMahon has been ruled out of the entire Super Rugby season after picking up a foot injury that requires surgery.
McMahon had only signed a one-year deal for the Japanese franchise last year, ending his chances of playing a role for the Wallabies in the 2019 World Cup in Japan. However, it was later revealed that the deal was dependent on a medical.
The 26-cap international suffered a foot injury while playing for Suntory Sungoliath, which continued to be an issue despite the flanker playing in the Top League final.
According to a report on the Rugby Australia website, McMahon has decided to undergo surgery on his foot, and his contract with the Sunwolves has been cancelled.
