Bulls prop Pierre Schoeman has received a six-week suspension for biting an opponent at Loftus on Saturday.
Schoeman was cited after the Bulls’ 28-10 win against the Rebels, with the citing commissioner ruling the incident met the threshold for a red card.
The 23-year-old’s guilty plea during his hearing, which was held via video conference, earned him a reduced sanction from 12 to six weeks.
‘With respect to sanction, the act of foul play was deemed a merited low-end entry point of 12 weeks. However, taking into account mitigating factors, including the player’s early guilty plea, his good character, his good disciplinary record and his remorse, the judicial committee reduced the suspension to a period of six weeks.’
Schoeman will be unavailable for selection up to and including Saturday, 2 June and will therefore miss the Bulls’ matches against the Highlanders (28 April), Stormers (5 May), Sharks (12 May), Jaguares (19 May) and Brumbies (26 May).
