The Blue Bulls Company is considering hiring both a director of rugby and a head coach to replace John Mitchell.
Mitchell left the Bulls last month to become England’s new defence coach.
A four-man committee has been tasked with appointing the new Bulls coach, including Springbok coach and SA Rugby director of rugby Rassie Erasmus, Blikkies Groenewald (chairman of the Bulls’ coaching committee), Barend van Graan (CEO of the Blue Bulls Company) and Alan Zondagh (a former WP coach). Former Bok coach Nick Mallett may also be involved in the process.

However, according to Rapport newspaper, the Bulls may opt to split Mitchell’s role and make two new appointments. That would allow the head coach to focus on coaching the Super Rugby team, with the director of rugby playing a role across all levels at the union.
A decision on who will replace Barend van Graan as Bulls CEO is also expected to be made within the new three weeks, according to the newspaper.
