An independent investigator has been appointed to probe the Stormers’ alleged mistreatment of assistant coach Paul Treu.
Treu reportedly stormed out of a Super Rugby season review meeting in July, allegedly based on the belief that he was being mistreated in the Stormers’ coaching group. He later declined to comment on the matter.
However, a special meeting between president Thelo Wakefield, CEO Paul Zacks, director of rugby Gert Smal and all four Stormers coaches (Treu, Robbie Fleck, Paul Feeney and Russell Winter) was held to address the issue.
Afterwards, Wakefield said he believed a solution would be found in due course, and that the issue was blown out of proportion in the media.
But, according to a report on IOL, the WPRFU has now tasked an independent investigator to look into the ongoing conflict between Treu and the rest of the Stormers management.
The report states that Treu had compiled and submitted a detailed 26-page document listing his grievances to the board. It is not yet clear when the investigation will be completed.
