Western Province were crowned unofficial U18 Academy Week champions after hammering Free State 73-0 in Paarl on Saturday.

Province played Free State off the park with their dominant attacking performance which heralded 11 tries, while a disciplined defensive effort kept the opposition scoreless.

WP had 10 different try-scorers, with only Jarod Cairns running in a double. Charl Janson, who also bagged a try, slotted eight conversions for a personal tally of 21 points.

The only other teams that finished the week unbeaten were SWD and Zimbabwe. SWD clinched a convincing 45-12 victory against the Valke, while Zimbabwe claimed a commanding 27-6 triumph over Namibia.

In another enticing clash, the Sharks needed a strong second-half display to down the Lions 24-10 after they were deadlocked at 7-7 at the break.
