Junior Boks prop Nathan McBeth has been ruled out of their semi-final against England on Tuesday with a broken finger.
McBeth, who rejoined the team after playing for Scotland U20 in the Six Nations, injured his finger in the 46-29 loss to France.
The loosehead will be replaced by Leon Lyons, who formed a solid front-row combination with Junior Boks hooker Schalk Erasmus and tighthead Sazi Sandi for Western Province U19 last year.
Junior Boks captain Salmaan Moerat said the team needs to start games better ahead of their crucial tie against England.
‘That certainly was not the way we wanted to start the game against France, and in a tournament like this, you cannot be on the back foot from the start and chase the game.
‘One learns some valuable lessons in a game like that. So as a captain, I would like us to become even tighter as a group this week and to focus on the next job, which is England.
‘We will do our homework on them, prepare well, and be stronger as a unit,’ Moerat added.
The winner of the game will face either New Zealand or France in the final.
